HONDA Days

On Honda's, Rocket Rex did pretty well at the 1974 Daytona Supercross 500cc class moto 1 - He won with a 400 motor beating Roger DeCoster! He finished 8th overall in the AMA Nats. the same year. He also did very well at the 1974 LA Coliseum Supercross - He won again!

Most all of these images come from Rockets magazine scans. Enjoy...

Here in the left image prior to moto 1, we see DeCoster eyeing Rex's hot RC-400 factory bike at the 1974 Daytona Supercross. There was never any love-loss between the two on the track or anyone else for that matter. Roger had a real hard time negotiating around Rex during a race because Rocket chose many different lines and tactic's with abandon. Roger used to call Staten "crazy" for his wild presence out there. Dah!

Thanks ROCKET for all the thrills and battles on the track! We will never forget.

Hey man would you be able to set straight on the bore & stroke of that early silver tanked Elsinore RC you rode for honda back in 73 or 74. I'm wanting to try to build a replica of that scooter. Thanks Rex ... BRIAN
